Education Program Curriculm Renovation Project
Jiin I redesigned a teaching practicum preparation course for pre-service teachers who reported feeling underprepared when entering real classrooms. The project began with a needs assessment survey of students who had completed the original course, which revealed gaps in instructional readiness, practical strategy use, and emotional preparedness for classroom teaching.
Using the Dick and Carey instructional design model, I developed a revised curriculum that provided more structured, scaffolded preparation prior to students entering field placements. The redesign emphasized learner readiness, active learning strategies, and stronger connections between theory and classroom practice. As a result, the course offered clearer guidance, practice-based activities, and reflective components to better support students’ transition from coursework to real teaching environments.
