MIS S ED tackles a specific problem: international students dealing with rumors and misinformation about visas, jobs, and campus policies. These students already face uncertainty from being far from home, and unverified information makes anxiety worse.
The app creates a community space where TML program students can share questions and get verified answers. Key features include moderator-checked announcements, peer reporting of uncertain posts, and a Community Trust Score showing how much content has been verified. Instead of just another discussion forum, MIS S ED builds verification into the platform—students can flag unclear information, request fact-checking, and see which posts have credible sources.
Features like Academic Handshake (connect with peers via time-limited codes) and emoji reactions on comments help students build connections while keeping information quality visible. Designed as a Figma prototype with planned Firebase integration, the app shows how platform design can reduce misinformation stress and strengthen belonging in vulnerable communities.

Civic engagement entails relationships with others, so how we imagine the others with whom we are engaged and connected is important.
