Jiin Source? is a media literacy simulation that situates learners in authentic, high-pressure digital environments. Grounded in research on civic online reasoning, epistemic vigilance, and metacognitive monitoring, the simulation emphasizes reasoning under uncertainty rather than discrete right-wrong assessments.

The initial scenario, “Star Juice,” requires participants to assume the role of a journalist investigating contested claims. Learners interact with simulated digital artifacts—including social media posts, influencer content, websites, and news articles—while navigating pressures such as deadlines, platform dynamics, and conflicting expert voices.

This design reflects a shift from traditional, decontextualized approaches to media literacy toward experiential, process-oriented learning. By embedding learners in environments that approximate real digital ecosystems, Source? enables both meaningful skill development and empirical study of how individuals engage in lateral reading, evidence evaluation, and decision-making under cognitive and emotional load.
